EDMOND, Okla. -- Oil was spewing through the air Friday morning after officials tell us they believe a construction crew hit a pipeline in the Twin Bridges Housing addition near Coffee Creek and Bryant.

The pipeline, operated by Centurion Pipeline, carries what's called Sour Crude from Midland Texas to Cushing, Oklahoma.

What makes it sour is the Hydrogen Sulfate given off.

Something that is being watched closely.

One person was evacuated from a nearby house.

The pipeline was shut off but the residual was flowing for hours.

Centurion crews were on the scene working to contain the crude.

Edmond Fire Department Asst. Chief Tim Wheeler said that things were under control.

"We're fortunate at this time the oil seems to be contained in the pond and is not running downstream or into any other area."

Hazmat continues to monitor the air quality.

DEQ was also on scene checking up on drinking water quality.

They say at this point, the drinking water is fine.
