OKLAHOMA CITY -- Family, friends and co-workers gathered to raise money for a Good Samaritan who nearly lost his life while helping a stranded driver. Tyler Ryan, 24, was struck by a car as he was changing a tire for a man stuck on the side of the road.
He lost his leg in the accident.
"I'll just keep going. A positive attitude helps you get through a lot of things," Tyler said.
Hundreds gathered at Remington Park for a fundraiser Thursday night.
Tyler worked there as a valet.
His employer, Jay's Valet, presented him with a check for nearly $23,000.
"Anytime your kids are hurting, it makes you hurt. I've told him a 100 times that I wish it was me and not him,' Tyler's Mom, Shirley Coleman, said.
Coleman said Tyler doesn't have health insurance.
She tells us his medical bills are over $700,000.
