BOLEY, OK -- On a normal day, sports, politics, and of course food is the topic of choice at a small diner in Boley. "We serve hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hotlinks, chicken bites, ham sandwiches and catfish," said Manager James Mitchell. But instead of talking about the fine dining at Pookey's, folks around Boley have been discussing the movements of a mountain lion that was last seen in a wooded area along Pecan Street which is right across the street from the police station.
"I'm from Minnesota and I'd rather beat the cold than come down here for lions, tigers and bears."
"We just want to make sure that people that live around the area are aware of the sighting," said Police Chief Virgil Green who got the call on Saturday.
Because dozens of people use Pecan Street to get around town, Chief Green has already consulted the local game warden about the problem and wants residents to take precautions.
"If you see one, don't take it in your own hands and try to capture the mountain lion or shoot the mountain lion, call 911."
Pet owners are also encouraged to keep their pets indoors because small animals are possible targets for mountain lions.
