Mayor Smith says he got a call earlier in the week from OSBI agents letting him know there were allegations of questionable financial transactions involving the two city employees.
Jessica Brown with the OSBI says, "The Kingfisher County Sheriff called in OSBI a few days ago to look into an allegation of embezzlement involving a couple of employees there at the city."
Smith says he was surprised by the accusations and continued, "In the best interest in the town of Cashion, and as advised by legal council, the board of trustees placed the personnel involved on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation."
Several people around town need to be interviewed before the allegations can be either dismissed, or turned into criminal charges.
The OSBI has asked for some town documents and Brown says, "My agent has to go through quite a bit of records before he has an idea of how much money we're looking at."
