OKLAHOMA CITY -- Loved ones are still in disbelief after Lance Dawkins, 24, was gunned down outside Club Rodeo early Thursday morning. "It's really really hard. We're just trying to move on with the situation and put everything in God's hands and hopefully something will be done because he didn't deserve to die," said Desirae James, sister.
Oklahoma City Police say Dawkins was killed when security guards exchanged gunfire with someone who pulled a gun and started shooting in the parking lot. Investigators believe that man was Johnny Mixon, 23, who was also shot. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. A third person was also hit. He was treated and released.
Family members say Dawkins went to the club with Mixon and the other victim. We're told they were all friends.
Investigators say the security guards were off duty OU police officers. The shooting is still under investigation.
