Lady doesn't fall for common pet scam
WARR ACRES, OK -- A Warr Acres woman almost got scammed out of $3200 and two adorable Chihuahua-mix puppies. Teresa Ingram's two dogs had a liter of puppies earlier this year. She put an ad in the paper hoping to sell the dogs.

Last week, Ingram got a TDY relay call from a supposedly deaf buyer. They never spoke but corresponded over email on a price of $400 for two dogs.

Ingram knew the deal was too good to be true when the buyer sent her a cashier's check for $3200! The buyer instructed Ingram to cash it and mail the difference. Instead, Ingram deposited the money and waited for word from her bank.

Sure enough, Coppermark Bank called a few days later to report that $3200 check was fraudulent. Thankfully, Ingram still has her puppies.

However, she had to pay the bank a $5.25 penalty for depositing a fraudulent check. She now wants to warn others about this popular scam.
