Oklahoma River ground breaking
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Monday morning community leaders broke ground on the newest jewel along the Oklahoma River. Construction has begun on the $10 million Devon Boathouse.

Oklahoma City is now a "Midwestern Mecca" for crew. The Oklahoma River has proven to be as much a well-spring for economic development as it has for athletic development.

The boathouse is paid for entirely with private dollars. It is a testament to the healthy commitment Oklahoma corporations have made to Oklahoma City.

The multi-level Devon boathouse will be 33,000 square/feet. It will feature an indoor row tank. It will surely be a factor as the Oklahoma River is being considered for the official designation as a US Olympic training site.

The facility is expected to open sometime in 2010.
