Earlier this week Governor Henry declared a state of emergency for 56 Oklahoma counties. Now FEMA is stepping in to see if they may be able to help. Thursday morning FEMA crews were out with state emergency management officials assessing the damage in numerous counties. In Shawnee crews toured an area where mobile homes and barns once sat.
Trailers and other farm equipment were also scattered across the fields;a box car sits hundreds of feet away from where it once had been placed.
Crews walked from one property to the next, snapping pictures and taking in the vast damage.
FEMA spokesperson Win Henderson says the FEMA crews will compile their findings and present them to Governor Henry.
He will then decide if it's necessary to apply for federal assistance.
