OKLAHOMA CITY -- A freak accident Thanksgiving Day as a steel fence falls on top of a young autistic boy leaving him in a coma. 9-year-old Nathan Carver was crushed by the hundred pound fence after it fell over on top of him. Family members say he suffered severe head injuries and a collapsed lung.
"All we're hearing right now is that there is no change there's a lot of swelling in the brain," says Nathan's grandmother Donna Bay.
Bay says the young boy wandered off during a family get-together at his great grandparents' house on northwest 65th street.
When the found him, he was pinned underneath the gate, which was leaning up against the house.
He was found unconscious and not breathing and was transported to the hospital.
Family members say they are "cautiously optimistic" that he will pull through.
