EDMOND, OK -- A grenade scare brings classes to a halt this morning at one school in Deer Creek. Sheriff's deputies say a student at Grove Valley Elementary brought a hand grenade to school and showed it to his teacher in the morning. Not sure if the device was dangerous or not, the county's bomb squad was called in to investigate.
Luckily the grenade had previously been deactivated.
During the investigation, everyone inside the school was evacuated to the opposite end of the building.
"Obviously, some pretty tense moments but fortunately all's well that ends well," said Mark Myers.
Investigators aren't sure why the student brought the grenade to school in the first place.
District leaders wouldn't say if the student would face any punishment for his actions.
