OKLAHOMA CITY -- Like it or not, thousands of folks in the metro are seeing an extra fee added to their monthly utility bill. Starting this month, the Village and Bethany have automatically signed up their residents to a new EMSA ambulance program.

In October, Oklahoma City residents will be signed up to a similar program. Oklahoma City is allowing people to opt out. That's not an option in the Village or in Bethany, where the program is now mandatory.

"Well it gets to be administrative nightmare, keeping track of residents that are in and residents that are out. We foresaw some problems with that," said Village city manager Bruce Stone.

EMSA is also negotiating with Edmond and Warr Acres on their own plans. So far, Yukon is the only city in the metro that's said they won't take part.
