BETHANY, OK -- It was a celebratory morning at The Children's Center in Bethany. The sound of a hammer signaled the completion of a life-changing project. With the help of one of the staff members at the Center, Aaron Bullock drove the last metal rods in place on an obstacle course named "Community Barriers." Bullock helped design the course which will help children with disabilities train on different ground surfaces found in the community.

Things like gravel, mulch and brick were once challenges for the young man.

Bullock was in an ATV accident at age 13 which left him with a traumatic brain injury.

For the past 5 years he's been an inspiration as he learned to open his mouth, walk and eventually talk again.

Now Bullock is almost always flashing a smile and he is never shy about telling a joke.

His experiences in life gave him the idea for his Eagle Scout project.

He wanted to give back to those who have helped him as he heals.

The "Community Barriers" course was the perfect way to do just that and help other kids in the process.

Bullock says he wants to let kids know, "When you get hurt, that's not it. You can move on and try to get better."

Tami Lemon is a recreational therapist at The Children's Center. She says, "Aaron's my bud. He's come a long way. He's one that can attest to how hard it is when you go out there and you don't get to practice this kind of stuff before you go."

She says the course is one of a kind.

It provides a distraction-free place for kids to practice walking, or wheeling, on and off of different surfaces.

The course is right next the the Center, so kids can be close to the care they need, relieving a lot of anxiety for both the children and their loved ones.

Bullock says, "I'm really excited that it's finally done," as he steps over a wooden beam on the course, demonstrating just how much progress he's made.

Bullock's example of determination has them hoping kids will follow in his footsteps for years to come.
