CHANDLER, OK -- A massive fire ignited after a 26-inch natural gas pipeline exploded. Natural gas company ONEOK is now investigating what may have caused the pipeline to burst. The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday. ONEOK was called out to cap off the line, while Lincoln County crews responded and put out the small grass fires.

Lincoln County Emergency Management initially believed a rusty section of the pipe was what caused the explosion.

Officials with ONEOK say it's too early to make that determination and it could take weeks.

Work crews were out at the site of the explosion late Thursday night taking a look at the damage.

The crews tell us they hope to start replacing that section of the pipeline Friday morning.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the explosion.
