SHAWNEE, OK -- With gushing ceilings and moldy hallways, some Oklahoma students are getting lessons in leaks this semester. Not to mention, they're pretty annoyed at the trash cans they have to dodge on their way to class. Ceiling tiles are sparse and trash cans clutter the hallways to catch the drippings of a rainy day at Shawnee High School.

Why? School officials say a $3 million bond is in order to re-roof the entire building and re-do the electrical work.

Shawnee School Superintendent Marilyn Bradfor said, "It's critical. We're doing everything we can to try to maintain until we get this bond passed so we can start work on the roof."

No major health concerns in these humid rooms yet, but students agree with 200 plus leaks, it needs to be addressed soon.

Dalton Smith said, "It endangers our everyday life because we have to walk around trash cans to get through the halls."

The bond vote is November 10. The superintendent says if it doesn't pass, they'll re-group to try to bring the bond back. Until it passes, they'll repair the roof as best they can.
