DUNCAN, OK -- We have a bizarre update to a story we first told you about last week. Federal agents took 29-year-old Charles Dyer of Marlow into custody. He is a former marine and authorities say they found a stolen grenade launcher in his home. Authorities say Dyer is very vocal about his anti-government beliefs.

Wednesday additional charges were filed against him.

Now that federal charges have been filed, county authorities have charged him as well, for separate allegations.

Sources say the sheriff investigating the county case is now receiving threats, possibly from militia groups who sympathize with the former marine.

"He still hasn't had his day in court," Stephens County Sheriff Wayne McKinney said. "We live in a free country so we're going to make sure he's treated fairly."

And for good reason. Although authorities won't comment on camera about it, we're told threats are being made against them after they arrested Dyer.

The Stephens County Sheriff's Department obtained a warrant to search Dyer's home for DNA evidence after he was accused of raping a young girl.

While inside, they found a stolen grenade launcher and called the FBI.

Now, militia Web sites claim members of extremist groups are trying to locate the home address of the sheriff.

Other sites are defending Dyer saying the government is trying to get back at him for having the grenade launcher and that the child sexual abuse charges filed against him are bogus.

Officials say there's nothing wrong with owning firearms, but what Dyer had in his home was illegal.

"What we found in one of those drawers, a grenade launcher; that's crossing the line a little bit there," McKinney said.

Wednesday afternoon Stephens County prosecutors filed one count of child sexual abuse against Dyer.

Court records show the abuse allegedly occurred over a period of years on a now 7-year-old girl.

Authorities say these actions, coupled with his militia ties, have them keeping a closer eye on Dyer.

"Obviously considering what was found, I would consider him a dangerous person," Assistant District Attorney Joshua Creekmore said. "Given what we know about the individual and his connections, we consider him a flight risk."

Dyer's attorney says his client denies all charges.

Dyer is in federal custody and has a warrant for his arrest in Stephens County. If he's bonded out of federal jail, he'll be taken into custody by county authorities.
