EDMOND, OK -- Mike Castle had no intention of buying new wheels and tires. But he had no choice after thieves jacked up his 2008 Chevy Silverado in his driveway and ripped off his chrome and rubber. His wife woke him to break the news. According to Castle, "She said, 'You need to get out and look in the driveway. You don't have tires and rims.' I staggered out there and it was jacked up and on blocks like these, landscape blocks."

Police say thieves have targeted several Edmond neighborhoods.

The owner of this Cadillac Escalade lost $6,000 worth of custom wheels and brand new tires.

Mike's neighbor recently found his Chevy Avalanche on blocks too!

The lug nuts were still sitting in the driveway.

The crime victim says, "For some reason, they really like Chevy or GM."

Detectives say these crimes could have likely been prevented had the vehicle owners parked in a secure garage.

Police spokeswoman Glynda Chu said, "I'm not sure what our mentality is, but we fill our garage with junk and park an expensive car or SUV in the driveway. It should be the other way around. Cleaning out the garage and parking inside is the best thing you can do."

Authorities also recommend investing in locking lug nuts to protect your property.

This crime spree is similar to a recent rash of thefts in the Quail Creek and Nichols Hills communities.

Edmond police are investigating to see if there is a possible connection.
