Singer/songwriter Toby Keith wrote an emotional tribute, "Cryin' For Me (Wayman's Song), for one of his good friends, Wayman Tisdale. Tisdale was an All-American basketball player from Oklahoma, first-round NBA draft pick and played for 12 years. He also had a very successful career as a jazz bass player.

Keith remembers Tisdale fondly, "great big charismatic smile," Keith said. "He didn't have a wall up, he was just one of the good guys."

Tisdale lost his leg to bone cancer in 2008, struggling through leukemia. Doctors released him in good health so he called Keith and asked to lease a few tour buses to share his jazz music with the World.

Keith wouldn't have the lease; he allowed Tisdale to use them free of charge.

The next day Keith received a text from his wife letting him know Tisdale has passed away.

Keith said he knew Tisdale was sick but just couldn't believe his friend had died.

"He'd been having complications breathing," Keith said. "The chemo caused his throat to tighten down, his wife drove him to the hospital, they laid him down and looked at him and he died right there. Just 44 years old and one of the greatest guys."

Keith said all he wanted to do was sleep.

He said he woke up, went to his office and closed the door. He called Tisdale's phone one last time to hear his voice on the recording.

The call gave Keith the inspiration to pick up his guitar and write "Cryin' for Me."
