Hope for unsolved kidnappings
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma, like most other states, has a number of missing children. Some are high profile, like the two girls that went missing from the state fair in 1981. They were never heard from again. 12-year-old Kirsten Hatfield disappeared from her home in Midwest City in the middle of the night. That happened in 1997. She would be 18 now.

Cases like this leaving families and authorities baffled.

However, the headlining case of Jaycee Dugard coming home after being kidnapped 18 years ago, now is offering hope to many families.

Jessica Brown from the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation says a case like this is a good thing.

"It should give them a modicum of hope that until we find remains there's a possibility their loved ones are still out there."

Authorities say that victims' families need to keep their cases alive by communicating with law enforcement and media.
