WARR ACRES, OK -- This is a story of gratitude and selflessness, of one survivor reaching out to help another. We first shared Don Murray's situation with News Channel 4 viewers three years ago. In May of 2006, Murray was run over while riding his motorcycle. He lost a leg, but not his strong spirit.
That report touched a lot of hearts, and from that came a gift.
It was a wheelchair lift for his car installed by the owner of Handi-cap Aids Mike Bradshaw.
Fast forward to Wednesday night and another survivor's story.
Angelica Moore was paralyzed after a car accident.
Her family was coming home from vacation in Texas when a tire blew.
Angelica, known as Angel, was ejected from the car. Now she's a strong 11-year-old in a wheelchair with a need for better transportation.
Moore says, "The trunk is little and my chair takes up all the room."
After we told Angel's story, Don had an idea; he now has a prosthetic leg, and no longer needs his lift.
He says, "I called Handi-cap Aids and said come and get it if they can use it. I thought about putting it on Craigslist, but I believe in paying it forward."
When she was told about the idea Angel replied, "I think that's cool and I like that." Handi-cap
Aids again graciously agreed to help install the machine.
Mike Bradshaw says, "I think it's awesome. I wish more products could be recycled like this in a good way."
Don agrees saying, "It's not all about the money. It's all about helping people." It's a sentiment that makes Angel light up with her trademark smile saying, "That's nice and I want to tell him thank you."
