WATONGA, OK -- In Watonga, Oklahoma, a small town salute to our American heroes on this Veterans Day. The high school gym served as the backdrop for a special Veterans Day assembly. Every branch of service was represented this morning, but it was Retired Army Specialist Glen Blood who took center stage.
42 years ago, the Vietnam vet was unceremoniously mailed a Silver Star for his bravery in action.
When a friend learned Blood had never been publicly recognized for his heroism, he took the opportunity to commend him during today's ceremony.
In addition to a Silver Star, Specialist Blood was also awarded two Purple Hearts.
