Preparing for old man winter's return
OKLAHOMA CITY -- The calendar says spring, but the skies are stuck in winter. The fear of winter weather striking is causing many people to put up the sunglasses and pull out the snowplows and shovels.

Crews with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation are doing final checks on their equipment, making sure everything is in working order. Crews will be out on highways across the state if the weather gets too bad.

Though they aren't the only ones preparing for winter's trek back through the state. Customers have been calling Westlake Ace Hardware wondering if they have winter supplies.

So, they pulled all their ice melt, snow shovels, ice scrapers and sled back out. They are also pulling all the flowers inside, trying to protect them in case the temperatures drop too low.

Meanwhile, ODOT officials say they have plenty of sand and salt on hand. They also have more than 100 crews on standby to make sure the roads can be cleared quickly.

Kevin Bloss, an ODOT engineer, says, "They stay out there until the job is done. It doesn't matter if it's a four hour storm or a two week storm."
