One option financial experts say you should look into is a target date fund. It's a fund connected to your 401k that automatically adjusts as you draw close to a retirement year set by you.
Robin Byford, with Stillwater National Bank, says, "As they age it will become more conservative. It will automatically adjust."
Experts say advice like this is important for everyone, but especially for women.
Byford says women need to be financially confident.
Building that confidence is what the Oklahoma Society of CPA's hopes to do through an upcoming conference called "Do It Herself: A Journey To Financial Freedom."
The conference will cover everything from household finances and 401k planning to overcoming a financial crisis.
It takes place October 9, at the Clarion Meridian Convention Center.
Registration is $15 and you can find more about the conference at www.KnowWhatCounts.org.
