HAMMON, Okla. -- Now the cleanup effort is underway in Western Oklahoma after a twister ripped through the town of Hammon Monday night. At least five homes were destroyed by the storm. Power lines are down and roofs are blown off houses. Hammon and nearby Leedey schools were closed Tuesday because they are without electricity.

Residents are picking up debris across the open countryside.

Edwina Luttrell and her family lost everything when the tornado demolished their mobile home.

"I banged on the door and yelled at my son to get out of the shower," Luttrell said. "I told him, 'It's here! It's here!' We ran out the door and barely escaped in time to make it to the storm shelter. We could hear it buzz over us. It only lasted about 30 seconds."

Still no injuries have been reported.

Families whose homes were destroyed say many in town have offered up their homes to stay as long as they need to get back on their feet.
