Murder charge filed against Nichols Hills doctor
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Formal charges are filed against a Nichols Hills doctor accused of killing his 9-year-old son. Today Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater charged Dr. Stephen Wolf with first-degree murder and a second count of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

Wolf allegedly stabbed his son Tommy to death inside the family's home last week.

On the surface, legal experts say the facts against Dr. Wolf are overwhelming.

However, one former federal prosecutor says a murder conviction isn't going to be automatic.

"There does seem to be plenty of evidence that a homicide occurred, but there are, I think, some legitimate questions as to whether the insanity defense may be appropriate," says Robert McCampbell.

The defense has 30 days after Wolf's arraignment to file a claim of insanity.

Wolf remains behind bars at the Oklahoma County jail where he's being held without bond.
