MOUNDS, Okla. (AP) — A Mounds man has died after driving the wrong way on an Okmulgee County highway and crashing head-on into an oncoming pickup.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 33-year-old Jeremy West died at the scene of the crash about 10:45 p.m. Friday on U.S. 75.

The patrol says West was southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway when he slammed head-on into a pickup driven by 24-year-old Rowdy Hartley of Weatherford. Hartley was taken to a Tulsa hospital in stable condition.

The patrol says they received numerous calls that West was driving the wrong way and that several officers were en route to try and stop him before he crashed.
