OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The attorney for a pharmacist charged with murder says questions surrounding the state's chief medical examiner will help the defense.

Medical Examiner Dr. Collie Trant was placed on paid leave Monday. And the chief administrative officer at the medical examiner's office says he's told the board that oversees the office that Trant is a liar and inept.

Attorney Irven Box says the situation will help pharmacist Jerome Ersland.

Ersland is charged with first-degree murder of 16-year-old Antwun Parker during a robbery of the Oklahoma City pharmacy where Ersland was working.

Collie conducted the autopsy and has said the teen was unconscious from a shot to the head when he was shot five more times.

Ersland says he shot in self-defense.

District Attorney David Prater says monitoring Collie's situation.
