OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A judge has ordered a pharmacist to stand trial for first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy during a robbery.
Oklahoma County District Court Judge Gregory Ryan ruled Wednesday there was sufficient evidence to try 58-year-old Jerome Ersland for the killing of 16-year-old Antwun Parker.
Ersland's defense attorney said his client feared for his life when he fired five shots into Parker's body after the young man had been knocked down by an earlier shot.
Prosecutors said Parker posed no threat at the time he was killed because he on his back, unarmed and unconscious, with his arms extended.
