COWETA, Okla. -- Former University of Oklahoma All-American defensive end Rick Bryan has died at age 47.
Bryan died Sunday night at his home in Coweta. Former OU coach Barry Switzer says Bryan suffered heart failure.
Bryan was a three-time All-Big 8 selection and a two-time All-American. He holds the OU record for tackles by a lineman with 365.
He was drafted 9th overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 1984 NFL draft and spent nine seasons with Atlanta.
He's survived by his wife and three children, including University of Tulsa linebacker Mike Bryan.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Coweta High School gym.
